(2952) Jet flow gate
A high pressure gate used as a regulating gate either at the discharge end of, or at any intermediate point in, a conduit. It consists of a gate leaf mounted on wheels and operated by means of a motor, gear reduction unit, and a pair of threaded stems or hydraulic cylinder hoist. A jet is created by the provision of a nozzle ahead of the gate such that the issuing jet skips over the gate slot without touching the downstream edge of the slot.
